During the second world war, the town was an important ground for both Axis and Allied powers. The development of the town commenced in 1975 which transformed the former quarrying site to a new residential town. There are several norite formations and ridges that have been preserved to date to showcase the heritage of this town Bukit Batok is strategically located near six other similar planning areas.
The town can be easily be accessed using the many bus services that are available in its vicinity. There are also several social amenities available in the region including; Keming Primary and Bukit View Secondary schools in the central region of Bukit Batok. Bukit Batok Town has a long history and the town is near to the upcoming Jurong East Region where there will be plenty of retail and commercial outlets available for the residents to use.
History of Bukit Batok in Singapore
The town has one major shopping complex, West Mall that was opened in 1998. This shopping complex houses, restaurants, specialty shops, Cineplex plus a supermarket. The town has two MRT stations, namely; Bukit Batok and Bukit Gombak MRT stations respectively.The Bus interchange services is located near the West Mall.

The CDANS country club is also available to be used by defense forces members and their loved ones.
Bukit Batok Town Central at Jurong East Region
The Bukit Batok town is located between two constituencies, namely; Choa Chu Kang Group Representation Constituency and Jurong group Representation Constituency. The town has four members of Parliament, two from each constituency. The word Bukit in Malay language means a cough. The term was named so after the quarry days, that was given to give an illusion that their hills used to cough. There are many interesting sceneries that attract tourists to the town, including the Ford Factory, which was given to the Japanese after the British gave in to war.
